Hello all

I purchased a modified ps2 almost 2 years ago, it was one of the last original models made, so it's a v11 v12? Anyway, I was reading a post about how someguy has HDDloader running without inserting either the DVD/CD disc. Does it matter what chip you have?

Now, the reason I ask, is I forget what chip is in my machine, and I don't want to open it. All I know, is that I have to hold down the power button for about 4 seconds for the machine to shut down. And, you have to hold "O" before booting up, in order to play PSX games. And, you have to hold "Square" in order to play DVD's. And, I think there's some other button you could hold, that updates the chip?? I never understood that. But if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Also, does Contra - Shattered Soldier work from the HDD? I've tried tunning HDDLoader 2.0 pal/cd, and the disc doesn't even get to the main menu. Thanks. :)

If its not a slim PSTwo it not a V12, it could be anything from a V1-V11 I guess. Anyway the boot sequence you describe is that of the DMS3. You can install HDL to mc0:BOOT/BOOT.ELF and to boot it hold triangle from standby and tap rest. Keep holding triangle until HDL boots.

oh ok. But I'm new to putting files on a memory card, it does go on a memory card right? lol, see, I'm new to this HDL. Now, also, I think I have HDadvance and HDLoader. Does it matter which program i'm using? I thank you for your reply

it explains how to install HDL to the memory card with a DMS3 chip. You might want to update your DMS3 with the latest firmware before you do anything. Go here to download the DMS firmwares.
