You can not simply hook the xbox HDD to the PC and think it will work. There are a few ways to get access to it but those are risky.
Instead get yourself a twisted network cable that is long enough to go between your PC and the xbox. For example, mine is 25m and goes from my sleeping room (with the PC) to my living room (with the xbox).
Got that done? Well ok since you have modded the xbox and probably installed EvoX as dashboard or similar follow these steps.

1. Give your xbox a static IP, something like 192.168.0.5 and give your PC the static IP 192.168.0.1.
2. Download the free trail of FlashFXP and connect to 192.168.0.5, username:xbox, password:xbox.
3. Now you will see everything on the xbox, in case you have upgraded your HDD you can now transfer from the xbox hdd too your pc and vice versa.
If you want to backup a game and only have original HDD you can open the D: drive when a game is in and you will see all the game files.
4. transfer them all to your PC
5. Download a program called Qwix (you can also use Craxtion if you feel like, I prefer Qwix) and create an ISO with the files you transferred.
6. Burn the iso and you will have your backup.

Hope that helps... :)

i was wondering where i could buy a twisted network cable for xbox. and also i was wondering if this would be hard to set up.

You can but a twisted network cable from any computer store. Most places call it a cross-over cable.

However if you are lazy:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812117810
for a 25ft

or:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Desc=Crossover
for a list of all cross-over cables.

I choose newegg because they are normally the cheapest and it was easy for me. I'm not trying to advertise here. (Bestbuy had a 25ft regular cable for like $30 in the store)

It wouldn't be hard to set up. Just make both the Xbox and the computer have a static IP and then (like the post before me) log in to your xbox via FlashFXP or SmartFTP.
Now if you mean hard to set up as in hardware wise, just plugin the xbox in one end and the PC in the other. If you have a router the process is slightly different in that your comp is in port 1 (or whatever) and your xbox in port 2 (or whatever) and they don't use crossover cables but regular CAT cables. and each the comp and xbox use different cables.

Also why do you want to patch xbox games. Arn't they normally like ok.

P.S. Newegg Ships to US only and is the cheapest place I could find (i think)

how do you make a static ip? i dont really know much about it. thanks.

DRAGoN.X 27-09-2005 20:06

First do you have a router or not. Since we were all talking about cross-over cables I'll asume you don't.

Static IP on Xbox: (If you have an X3 change the IP adress in the X3 bios to Static and then choose an IP (192.168.0.5 or anything really make it totally different from your computers IP.) If not just do this. In evox go to the system setup or options and then find the network part. change the IP from dynamic to static and then type in an IP adress (if you had an X3 use the same one) of your choice like 192.168.0.5, anything different to your IP on your computer.

Static IP on Computer:

http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip-dhcp.htm

Just go there, select your OS and then follow the steps (I've only done this with a router so I don't know if this will leave you vunerable to attack)

(P.S. if it asks for the disk than you copied it to the HD wrong)

i have downloaded filezilla and plugged everything in. i changed my ip on my xbox. i didnt change it on my computer. for my address i put in my xbox ip. for user name and password i put xbox. it isnt able to connect. i do not have a router or firewall or anything. it just says unable to connect. how can i make it connect?

Hunter_99507 28-09-2005 00:12

when i plug it in it says there is limited or no connectivity on my computer. how come? i tryed to pull up my static ip on the computer but my computer wont allow me to access ms dos. i have xcuter2.

kosmiq 28-09-2005 02:48

Set a static IP on both your PC and your xbox. That will ensure maximum compatibility. If you are using Windows XP SP2 you might need to turn of the built in Firewall... I have also no idea how Filezilla works when connecting to a xbox.

Try smart FTP:
http://www.smartftp.com/

and change your IP on your computer to static.
