PSX backup help

Hi, I can use some help with making backups of original PSX games.

I just can't seem to make a working image file of 2 games in particular: Atlantis (PAL) and Juggernaut (US).
When loading the copies the screen freezes at the Playstation logo screen, time and time again.

I've tried various copy programs: CloneCD, CDRWin and Alcohol120%. I changed the settings constantly but all my burned games ended as coasters.

What am I doing wrong?

What media are you using??

MAXELL CD-R 80 XL

I got others to work with this brand too.

Try using TDK or Verbatim My guess is its a media issue also what chip do you have?

I have a Infinity Chip in my PS2 I think. Could it be the DVD-writer or DVD-player (I have both)?

I dont think its the burner. Try running a dvd laser cleaner in the console as well as trying different media. I think you will have better results :)

But why do they hang exactly at the same place; when the playstation logo screen appears?

It freezes because its having trouble loading the data. BTW did you get any read errors when making these image files?? No PSX or PS2 CD game has intentional read errors so no matter what software your using always select "abort on read errors" in the software settings.

The problems you describe are common with cheap media and or weak lasers. If your not getting any read or burn errors then try different media.

One other thing. If you use cdrwin and used a pirated key to unlock it it will burn coasters. Be warned.

I scanned the image with CDmage first, there were no errors.
I'm not sure anymore but I think my PSX was cleaned when it got the MOD-chip built in (not so long ago).
Anyway I should try some different brands of CD-R.

Thx for the help.
Cya.

I will order a PS2 lens cleaner first.
