Battlefield 2 Newb help
I bought the BF2 PCCD version. I want to get the game to run without using the original disc as I have 3 kids who are rough with discs and damage them. I used to always find no cd cracks for my games but see this one has image files. I only have Nero to burn, and was wondering how to make a copy of my original disc so I can put it away from the kids?
I am asking a legit question on backing up my own copy. Can anybody give me step by step instructions on backing this game up? I know nothing about virtual drives also. |
BACKING UP "Battlefield 2"
Hi,
one of the best programs for backing up software and games is "CloneCD 5" from SlySoft. You can find the latest version (5.2.6.1) here: http://www.slysoft.com/ Download and install this program, then create an IMAGE of the disc, using the 1. menu-icon (from left)! After that burn the IMAGE of the CD on a CD-R using the 2. menu-icon of the program (from left). If you have any questions, send me a PM! MontyBurns1985 |
What I have been reading is a copied disc will not work. I do have Nero 6.6.012 which will make copies of images, and has an image drive program. Will this work or will I get booted from Gamespy?

1. There is a NoCD.
2. You can use a mini image, which will even work with Multiplayer. 3. If you want to backup the DVD itself use Alcohol 120 choosing SafeDisc 3 as copyprotection and burn it. Did this help ? |
It didn't help me as I don't know much about this stuff. I do have nero and made an image of my CD and mounted it in a virtual drive but it didn't work. It asks for the cd to be inserted. I just want to use Nero's virtual drive and mount my cd in it so I don't have to put it in and out to play and kids won't scratch it up. I have seen the images on this site, but they talk about renaming stuff so you don't get blacklisted. I have the store copy, just want to preserve it and use it in a virtual drive.

I use a mounted mini-image with Battlefield 2 online so I can help you with that.
I have never been able to reliably do a 1:1 backup...so I just keep my original discs in MINT shape by only ever using them for an install and then put them back in their case and up onto the shelf. First, download and install Daemon Tools 3.47: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/port...Download&id=34 Then download the BF2 mini CD image and extract it somewhere: http://dl.gamecopyworld.com/?d=2005&f=blhbf2mi!rar Double-click the Daemon Tools icon on your desktop (or run it from the Start menu) if it isn't already running. Then right-click the tray icon and select 'Virtual CD/DVD-ROM', then 'Device 0', then 'Mount Image'. Then browse to where you extracted the mini-image and select it. Close Daemon Tools. Run BF2 without the CD :D |
..and because some child thinks this has ANYTHING to do with pirated/copied/borrowed versions of BF2...
This method works only if you have a valid, legal, purchased version of the game with CD key (like I do) to play online. If you don't own your own copy, this will NOT work other than to give you the opportunity to play with lame bots in single player mode. |
i have my full version thank you...
and so if i wouldve have lost my CD i would have come here rather then giving EA an extra 50 pounds! and thats exactly what i ment with splinter cell but people like to get muddled up dont they. |
i wont warn you again soldja, cut it out.

Which is something else altogther, i.e. ILLEGAL. Read the rules, and then read some of our threads...you'll get it...eventually. |

Let me clarify what has been said.... When you buy a game, the EULA (which you agree to before installing) states one copy of the game PER machine. You cant go halfers with your mate and decide you both own it. It is illegal. If your so confident it isnt, why didnt you goto the developers forum and ask there? I am sure they will tell you exactly the same thing with an added "Dont steal our game" |
