Matrix Inf Homebrew troubles. V9
i did the mod, quite well actually, everthing was close to perfect, i checked it with a multimeter etc, i also did the romeo fix, which was the only problem.
the ps2 had already been modded, and by the looks of it, whoever did it in the first place screwed it up bad, solder was on everything, so what i think happened was it got sold on as a non-working ps2, and some guy just cleaned it up and sold it on to my friend. well, pin 17 on the LA chip had allready been bent a few times (obviously) and uh...yeah...when i pulled it up (i did it gently!) it broke off. then i had this tiny little thing to solder to. eventually i got the wire to stick to it. not all that well, but i hit it against the table a few times and it was ok so i figured it would stay on. the chip flashes ok, it reads "programming ok", but when i try to play a PS1 backup or PS2 backup it brings up the red format screen. strange, huh ? well when i play a PS1 original, it plays fine, but when i play a PS2 original, it makes 2 weird clicks and then reads the disc. and i tried a demo dvd and it just didnt work, "unable to read disc". it wont play backup dvd movies, OR originals, brings up the red format screen. you think its a possibility that i didnt push the dvd drive ribbon cable in far enough? |
LUFCFan, youre a legend mate. i scratched away around the pin stub and got a decent enough solder joint, and then found that my G and I points were the wrong way round ! its up and running like a nut now :D thanks for your help.
