Depending on how old your PS2 is your warranty is most likely up as I believe Sony only puts a 30 manufactures warranty on the console anyway. This of course also depends if you have purchased an extended warranty, but my point is that your response about the slid card being good because you wont void your warranty is a little off base. Also the slid card deals put stress on the DVD drive that Sony never intended and they will over time wear out and break your DVD drive tray. Sony isnt stupid and will realize you have been doing this and your warranty (if not expired) will be null and void also, once again making your comment unfounded.
You do make a good point though, when venturing down this road no matter the case you might as well kiss your warranty good bye, but for most people this is a realization that they take with a grain of salt because modding isnt about how you can protect yourself and have Sony cover your ass if you fail.
