Battlefield 2 NO-CD Fix

My comp has a problem where it installs CD and DVD based games with no problem, yet, when i go to run them, it asks for the CD/DVD when it is already in place, I believe this is a install-shield problem, but that's beside the point. To fix this problem, I have always come to Game Copy World to get no-cd fixes, and they've all worked great. I went to get the BF2 fix, and the directions are cloudy to me, I can't figure out where to replace the BF2.EXE and COREDLL.DLL files at, some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Search in the folder (and subfolders) on your harddisk, where you have installed the game, for the files BF2.exe & Core.dll.
You have to copy the cracked filed exactly to the same folder, where the original files are. You have to overwrite the original files with the cracked.

i am having trouble with that no-cd fix...i found the coredll and b2.exe and replaced them, however when i started bf2 the game starts (i believe all i can see is black screen) and the game closed back to my desktop

I patched my borrowed (and therefore lacking cd) BF2 to version 1.01 yesterday, and since then have been experiencing an identical error. It seems that version 1.01 includes additional crack protection.

it's a fault of battlefield's poor support of gfx drivers different than those supplied on it's DVD. i guess you'll have to install them or wait for a better patch...

I am running the supplied drivers on my GeForce 5200, and until I patched the game it ran fine (albeit with low detail on due to the crapness of my GFX).

I probably found the reason of crashes:

Community Update - 7/8/05

HOTFIX for Battlefield 2 v1.01 Coming Soon
First off, a HUGE thanks to all of you who emailed me in regards to the memory leak found in the update we released earlier this week (v1.01). Your emails found their way to our production team and they’re in the process of evaluating what needs to be done in order to get this fixed. In the meantime, and since the 1.01 update is causing memory leakage on some systems, we recommend that you reinstall the game and NOT the v1.01 update we released earlier this week.

Reinstalling Battlefield 2 will not affect your in-game medals or ranked server statistics. EA and DICE are committed to getting a fix for v1.01 as soon as we possibly can and will continue to keep you informed through this web space in the coming days.

NOTE: If you installed and are running the newer server files (Win and Linux versions) we made available earlier this week, please revert those as well. We found that those files had the same issues with memory leaks as did the v1.01 update. You can download the older versions here.
