SCPH-30003R series messiah chip probelms
 

ok my ps2 is a SCPH-30003R and it has a messiah chip

iv bought gran turismo 4 and iv been told that i have to dissable the chip by holding in the reset button for 7secs to get the game to work (this is by dissabling the chip) . but it wont work i just get the no cd menu and when i click browser all it says is READING DISK....thats wether or not i try to turn of the chip....i also tried it with a copy game to make it not work but yet again it didnt work, so i was wondering if anyone knew why this is happening ?

It just says "reading disc" and nothing else happens? Usually it should boot the game or state a "disc read error".

Maybe the laser has gotten too weak. Try cleaning the lens.

Also, GT4 is a DVD-9 (DL). Does messiah is able to boot dual layers?


BTW: The game is an original or backup?

M2 seems to do DL fairly well.

Also, my M2 modded v7 will play GT4 fine without disabling first (1.33b) :)

Could be your laser. Older ps2s don't play dual layer so well.

NTM a DL backup of GT4 must be patched with the Toxic patcher before it will load.

Like biggie said, It may be a weak laser.
