You already have the Sony name brand hard drive? Then all you need is HDLoader. Pop the CD in and it will walk you through it easily. After a quick format, you'll be able to backup your games to your system's hard drive. Keep in mind that the Sony hard drive is only 40G. Some games make take over 4G each! I recommend the HDLoader & 120G drive combo.

If you don't already have the Sony hard drive and network adapter..... you will need to buy the network adapter and either the Sony branded hard drive or an aftermarket one off this chart. Then pick up HDLoader and you'll be good to go. :)

You mean the Slim PS2?
It isn't going to be straight forward for you to fit a HDD to a Slim. It requires a soldered IDE port (which I have heard from others isn't easy).

It may be easier for you to either simply buy a mod and have it installed, or an older v7/8/9/10 console and Network Adapter.

The choice is yours... :(

Ouch. Lufc is correct. You say you already have the HD? Atleast that's kinda what I got out of your first post.

In answer to your question, you don't need anything other then HDLoader. That will do all the formatting and ripping. It's very very easy. With PS2, network adapter, hard drive, HDLoader and games.... your gravy. :)

So with the slimline PS2, I'd say maybe pick up the older larger version cheap off Ebay. Maybe a trade for your new one? I'm sure a friend would trade you straight up. Or lastly, have a mod chip soldered in so you can play backup versions of the games you currently have. ;) ;)

Woo, thanks for the great tips guys :D . Well I guess I have to trade in for the old PS2  , and really need to d/l HDloader.

Is there any place that I can get the crack/serial number for that software?

You really should purchase it as downloading ISOs are illegal. There is a site I believe where Sjeep actually hosts the .ELF file for HDLoader so that is the only legal download. However, you need a chip capable of booting from Memory Card for this to work. (If I have this slightly confused, someone please correct me...)
