Brothers in Arms, Need to speed up Checkpoint Reloads

Sorry for the noobness but I'm not sure if I'm on the right path here.

I've been playing BiA (single player) lately with limited success (I'm not a real good gamer). So every time I get blasted it seemingly takes forever for the PC to reload the checkpoint.

If I installed the latest patch and the No DVD/Fixed EXE will this allow for faster reload times. Makes sense in my mind but would like feedback from the pros.

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
A64 3000+ Winchester
Samsung SH-W08A DVD burner
1GB Mushkin dual channel RAM
80GB WD IDE HDD (scavaged from older rig)
Gigabyte 6600GT VGA (the fanless one)

TIA

Defragmenting your Hard Drive will help with loading times.

Your system is very good and plenty of memory, but the 64bit chip isnt being used to its maximun potential yet. Youll find it will better perform once XP64 is released later this year.

Hi Lowtech,

Only properly coded software makes the load/save process significantly faster.

It is e.g. incredible how fast GTA 3 and Vice City reload game states when you're already playing, knowing how much data is needed for the simulation of a large city! That's a very well coded software. Some others are not se well coded.

I just re-formatted and performed a fresh install of XP when I transferred this HDD from an older PC to the new one this past April. The HDD is a fairly new WD I bought i January or February when the Maxtor decided to have a head crash. But, what the heck I'll defrag and see if it helps, thanks.

So if I understand the reply correctly I might be SOL with BiA?

Thanks for the reply.

Please, note that, while this is an English-only forum, it is also an international one, so avoid using such abbreviations. I'm not sure what SOL is but, according to http://www.acronymfinder.com/af-quer...ct&Acronym=SOL , it probably means "short on luck". In that case, I guess, yes, you are.

That will certainly suffice :p .

Thanks for the help and I'll watch the acronyms in the future.
