silent hunter3...cannot upgrade to v1.3

hi
I bought SH3 on ebay form thailand. It was half the price including p&p. No cover no booklet but it was not a copy and as promised it has unique serial code and hologram with the dvd. But unfortunately I cannot upgrade the game!!! I tried 4 patches (2 dvd and 2 download patches for EMEA and US). The EMEA versions directly rejects as wrong version but the US versions checks the system for a while and ends up with error message
\silenthunterIII\data\menu\de_menu.txt : unknown version.

what's wrong with it? Whay can I do?Is it possible that It is a copy
Thanks

Hi reznoir,

If you're having problems with your original game, you should contact the game publisher or refer to the official game support forum. Make sure to ready all information, papers, bills and other proofs about your purchase, though, as your case might look a bit suspicious to others... Good luck,

Joe

Well I am sorry to tell you this, but games bought from Thailand are very rarely original. The only way to be sure that the game is in fact the real deal is to go to the shop and find the collectors edition of the game and then make sure everything is in it.
I am not telling you this to be rude, but because I know. I went to Thailand myself and there was piracy everywhere. Even when I thought I bought an original game it was not. And those even had a real box, bad but nice done manual and a disc that seemed original.

But as you bought the game in good belief (that sounded awful :p ) I am pretty sure you can do something about it.

Hey guys,

Recently Micro$oft announced that they're willing to replace "semi-pirated" Windowses (read: the user bought it in good belief, although it's actually not original) to completely authentic ones, if the user names the shop/company/whatever that he or she bought the fake Windows from. Perhaps, a game publisher could also do that. :D
