v9 infinity question
I chipped my v9 about 8 months ago, my first install and didn't have any problems. The romeo mod was also done and it's worked fine. However, sometimes when I boot the ps2, it locks up, both lights come on and I have to turn it off at the back of the console, and then back on. It works fine after that. This happened the very first time I switched it on after the install, and it happens occasionally now. It's not causing me a problem but I just wanted your thoughts on the matter.

I've been having this problem too. I would turn it on and get a black screen. What I would do is unplug the console and plug it back in and it worked fine. Recently I changed the firmware on my chip and now it gets stuck at the logo. I emailed infinitymods and they told me it might be a bad solder somewhere. They told me to resolder points A, 3.3V and GND. Hopefully this will solve my problem. This only happened recently and I have had the ps2 chipped for 5-6 months now but have always had that black screen problem from the start.

Here's the reply that I got from the Matrix team for your info............
Hi Col, According your description it looks like most probably the LA chip or the Mechacontroller is partially ruined or one of the PS11/PS14 fuses is getting partially damaged. If LA, than one day your PS2 will stop reading any type of disk, just change it with new LA chip. If Fuse, one day your PS2 will not turn ON or light will lock everytime you turn ON PS2. Check fuses and change the damaged one. If Mechacontroller is damaged, than there is nothing you can do except changing the PS2. Best Regards, The Matrix Team |
