i'm a novice.
i need help with a crack that i have currently been haveing trouble with. i have already renamed and the whole gist, but when i clicked onto the new crack file to play i get one of those "microsoft error" report things. maybe i didn't install the crack right.. i don't know.. maybe someone can help me with that?
|
Well which game and which crack?
|
basically...
basically... i need to know how to properly patch a crack file and replace the original.
thank you |
empire earth
empire earth, and the crack is labeled "EMPIRE.EARTH.HKFATKEI.NOCD"
i |
Just copy the file 'Empire Earth.exe' into the installed game directory overwriting the original, there is nothing to change or rename!
Backup or rename the original 'Empire Earth.exe' first tho! ;) |
here is a detailed description...
i have unzipped the crack... dragged it into a folder and then from that folder, i have copied it, and then pasted it into the game folder "empire earth"
then i renamed the original "empireearth" to "empireearth(o)" file and clicked on the crack "empireearth" to play.. the logo of the game shows up, but along with it is a microsoft error that says... "Empire Earth.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." they believe the error is a resolution problem.. but thats not the case. thank you. |
When you copied the cracked exe to the game directory did you get a message about wanting to overwrite the original exe?
|
nope. is not not normal
|
you should of got a message asking if you want to overwrite the original file? Are you sure you have copied it to the correct place? The cracked exe needs to be copied to the exact same location as the original exe!
I dont have the game currently installed so I cant tell you exactly where that is? |
did i do everything right so far?
|
Well you should of backed up or renamed the original exe before you copied the cracked one to the directory!
But you do only need the original exe if you want to update the game. |
ok, well this is what i did in order to find the original....
i downloaded the original in a folder ladeled "sierra" that can be found under the start menu. i clicked my computer>local drive(c)>all user>start up menu>sierra so i'm guessing i put it in the right place. |
do you mind helping me via yahoo?
|
Hmm you really are a 'novice' arn't you! :D
The file in the start menu is only a shortcut to the original file! EDIT: Job accomplished using Yahoo. :) |
