Modded box booting to Original MSDash
 

After many attempts at my first mod I managed it, now 10 months down the line my box will not boot evox but goes straight to MSDash.

I have recently tried uploading Jade Empire via FlashFXP but both of my PC's would recognise the XBOX IP but would not connect or upload.

For all those people with more knowledge than me please help

hmm, i don't understand. You say that it won't boot to evox, but gets an IP? Do you boot to evox after the MS dash boots, or are you trying to login to the xbox while the MS dash is still booted?

Also, what is your bios set up to boot first? dashboard.xbe, or evox.xbe. I guess I am asking if you had to rename anything of C to get evox to boot the first time.

well obviously you can't FTP to your xbox when on msdash as it doesn't set up an FTP server... even if you did manage to upload jade empire to your xbox, how could you hope to run it from msdash?

what modchip do you have? are you sure its switched on? (do backup games still work?) perhaps its broken somehow so the box is booting msdash instead....

assuming your chip is still working and switched on, have you tried booting from an evox install disk? that would both set up an ftp server and allow you to reinstall evox.

Yes I have booted from an Evox disk or else like you said how would I get an IP address and yes backup games still work, and yes I did have to change evoxdash.xbe.

I'm wondering if the fact that I now have a wireless router it might be conflicting somehow.

Can I plug the xbox straigh into the router and FTP or disconnect and use the LAN card directly.

I`ve seen a few titles that update the msdash for you, and somhow manage to disable evox....

Thats most likely the problem, your MSDash got updated by some game and therefore messed your EvoX up. Reinstall EvoX and you will be good to go.

Have solved the prob, as you suggested and now everything fine.

this has happened to my buddies box several times since i did the mod to his box i get to fix it what ussually happens is his kid trys logginng on to xboxx live even though they dont have it and it updates the xbe file like you said before i know it sucks i have gone thru it plenty of times

I guess there are some ways to block XboX Live update... If you use nkPatcher when softmodding Live Update is blocked, should be possible with a chip to.. Gotta check that up.. :D
