First mistake ever and it was a romeo mod :(
I accidentally pulled the leg off. :( Can I swap the chip from my V3? His is a v9.
I'm removing right now just to see if I can scrape enough black to find some metal to solder too. |
Either get a LA6508RII clone chip, or scrape back lightly the chip casing so you can expose a little bit of the leg if you've snapped it clean off, and Romeo as normal.
Hope this helps... |
Well I've scraped back enough to solder a 30 guage wire. I'm just wondering if that will be enough to carry the voltage without burning up :P

30 is what I use...

Well, I got enough copper showing to solder to and it works but I hated how shoddy it looked. Also, since he's a college student that moves his stuff a lot, I didn't trust the tiny bit of solder and hot glue holding it in place. So I ordered a couple LA Clones. I've seen a few out there and I ordered from richspsxparts.com simply because I trust 'em. But their clone looked like it had a metal plate where the rest have the brown flexible stuff.
Anyone have an opinion as to which is better? The hard plate or the brown plastic? This one is from richspsxparts: http://www.richspsxparts.com/psimages/la6508s.jpg This is the other one: http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/las...LA6508RIIs.jpg |
I have used those clones Rich sells and they are ok. I talked to Rich just a few days ago and he is selling original LA's now too. Might want to consider that as well.

Hmm.. I didn't see them on his site yet. Must be too new.
|
i like the flimsy orange board one there very easy 2 install.

Geezus I swear this guy's PS2 is a jinx. I just got my order in and they look like scavanged LA chips instead of the clones. So I'm guessing I still have to romeo mod these suckers.
Keep your fingers crossed for me guys. I don't want to snap another one :P |
Good luck Frito
