Pioneer A07 problems

I've noticed on the dvd's I've backed up recently that towards the end the dvd will freeze up. This happens on my dvd player hooked to my tv, my dvd drive on the computer, and my portable dvd player.

I've had it for a while and I've backed up many dvds as well as burned many cd-r's and dvd's for data. Do you think it's wearing out or is there another problem. I have the latest firmware on it, also.

Thanks

*edit: Also, if this helps, I only use Ridata and Ritek dvd-r's that I get from newegg.com. I used Nero, DVD Shrink and DVDDecrypter for my burning software.

@simonwood
Firstly, I have the same Pioneer burner!

I presume you are talking about movies you have backed up? And I also presume you are having this problem when playing those backed up movies?
Do you have labels on these backed up movies? If so it is more than likely caused because of the label. Ive seen this happen before with labels on blank DVD's!

It's possible but not likely!

I am not aware what is currently the latest but I use 'Nils' 1.16 Firmware Hack!

I use CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD. I only read the DVD's with these 2 programs, but I use Nero to write the DVD as well.
If you dont have labels stuck onto your DVD's then may I suggest you try CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD. There are trial versions of these programs available. Then if they work for you, you can purchase them once the trial period expires. 'Tyler Durden' had posted a tutorial on how to use CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD together. You will find that tutorial here.
Hope this helps solve your problem! ;)

Yes, you are right, they are backed up movies. Data discs seem to work fine. No labels either. I used to put labels on them a long time ago but I found that for the cost of labels, ink and the blank dvd, I could almost buy another orginial dvd.

Thanks for the reply.

Is it possible you got a batch of G05 Ritek instead of the G04. Some people have problems with the newer dye when burning large files that burn to the outer edge of the disc.

yep, i got G05's. I just placed an order for a pack of G04s from meritline today. If it solves the prob, great, its cheaper than a new burner. If not, i guess i have some extra dvd's.

Thanks
