LoTR: BFME Start Up problem
I bought this game not to long ago and it worked fine.
But it wasn't untill recently when I reinstalled it that it does not want to load. I did research and found out that there were problems with getting the game to run if you had a DLA feature installed with your DVD writer. So after realising that I did have it installed, I removed it, uninstalled the game, restarted, reinstalled the game using the CDRW drive, loaded the menu, clicked on play, and then the splash screen shows up and then disapears and nothing happens. This has been happening and no combination I do will fix it. None of the 4 cds are scratched, they're all fine. One thing I noticed is that if I first run the cd in my CDRW it gives me an autorun.exe error but if I first load it in my DVD RW drive it gives me no autorun error. I contacted EA GAMES twice and so far all they recommended was amatuer advice like driver updates along with service pack updates all of which I have and I even told them about the DLA, they were confused to what the hell I was talking about even when it is mentioned in their tech support site  I came here to post this because I have a strong feeling it has to relate to that DLA feature I previously installed with my DVD RW burning software. Any help will be highly apreciated. |
Hi Meiosis,
Can you, please, explain what DLA is or give us a URL to get ourselves more educated? :) Thanks, Joe |
Sure, it's basically a feature that allows you to "browse" your empty DVD-RW drive and drag and drop files without loading the burning program.
I just finished talking to the EA Games tech guys and all they say now is that it's their cd copy protection reader that may not work if I dont have my drive firmware up to date, well I do have them up to date and neither drive wants to load the game. The installation works fine, no problems there, it's only when the game is about to load. This is funny because I never had this problem before and the drives pick up all my other games just fine. BFME probably has a harder protection detection. I think that either my drives have dusty lenses or there is some windows 2000 hotfix I dont have that I should have to make this work. Any suggestions? :( |
Thanks for the help guys.
Aparently the solution was in one of the 30 critical updates for windows. |
