Doom3 : Resurrection Of Evil help!
 

here we go again......another Doom3 thread....by me...again.

anyway, thanks to all who help me before in my other Doom3 thread, i've been able to play it to the end. but now after the released of D3:RoE, i bought the expansion pack, install it, try to play it, and i got this error while loading the game :

what does this mean?

:cool: Hm,... this is a strange one. It has been several months since playing Doom 3. I bought the expansion the other day, freshly installed D3, then the expansion (it does the patching too). No problems here. I even found out that the D3 advanced weapon mod also works with ROE.

HELP with new no-cd/fixed exe
 

Install the game - Full Installation.
Install the Resurrection of Evil Add-On - Full Installation.
Replace the original LAUNCHER.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.
Play the Game!

When you install the expansion, it removes cd check. You do not need a fixed file and both games play without the cd in drive.

we know that. but as i recall, there's no such a program called launcher in Doom3 directory nor in D3:RoE. or maybe it's just me and my corrupted cd again.

i'll try to do a fresh installation back on Doom3 and D3:Roe to see whether it is me or i got another corrupted cd again.

okay, i've reinstall a fresh copy of Doom3 and then installed the expansion pack, it finally works. the error that i had is gone. maybe because i've unpacked the pk4 files as the pk4 files are still needed by Doom3 for multiplayer game so maybe the same rule applies to D3:RoE.

anyhow about the post made by Flash24, how to use that no-cd crack? as i don't see any file or program with the name "launcher.exe". so can someone tell how to use this crack? i just wanna know.

:mad: You don't NEED a crack. Once again I say, installing the expansion disables the cd check. d3 and roe plays without a cd in the drive!!!

dude, i know the expansion pack disables the cd check. but i'm curious in that particular crack, it says you have to replace a program called "launcher.exe" which didn't exist anywhere within my Doom3 directory. so i want to know how to use that crack if the file needed didn't even exist? what's the point of that crack anyway?

When the say 'launcher' they probably just mean replace the exe which launches the game! The crack disables the online checking of the cd key!

well in the crack file mentioned by flash24, there's a file named "launcher.exe". i know coz i've dload it and open it. but when i search for the same file name in Doom3 dir, there's no such thing. it's either Doom3 or D3XP. that's it. no "launcher.exe". and if i extract the so called "launcher.exe", the file's icon is not the same as Doom3's icon so it is confirmed that this crack is not meant to replace the exe that launches the game.

Ok, forget all about that crack with the Launcher.exe! I dont know what it is meant to be, it may even be a fake file!
Now even tho 'GeorgeK' is correct in saying you do not need a crack to play Doom3 or Resurrection of Evil, there is indeed a crack for ROE!
This file: Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil v1.2 [ENGLISH] Fixed EXE by 'Mint' found at GCW here, (Scroll down to it) bypasses the call-home behaviour during key validation, thats all! This is the same as using a firewall to block Doom 3 from connecting to the internet! When using this crack you will still be able to play both Doom3 and ROE without the need of the Discs in the drive!
I hope this clears things up for you! ;)

well, it did clear up for me about a few things:

1. the crack i was talking about might be a fake crack
2. i know the expansion disables the cd-check, i just don't know why, but now i know why.

i knew about the no-cd check after installing the expansion. but then curiosity kills me, why would you need a crack and if there is a crack, what it does and how to use it? that's all i want to know which got this discussion fired up.
