Help

Hey guy's,
I'm trying to make a back up copy of evil genius. I've given up on a cd back up, but I would like to play the game without having to insert the play disc. I copied the the patch for evil genius(The one that says it requires no cd to play). When I open the patch I get the message"Unable to Locate DLL" and also states that the dynamic link library granny2.dll could not be found in the specified path. I've read that I might have to create a temporary directory and install the game there first and then run the patch. How can I fix the problem and how can I create a directory?? Thanks....Adam

i'm just guessing here .. but put the "patch" in the game folder .... and run it from there..
or put it in whatever folder the DLL is in .. and run it from there..

this is just an uneducated guess...

Thanks Tbaher, I figured out how to set up a temporary directory, but still no luck on inserting the No-CD Executable files.. Adam

You copy and paste the no-cd exe into the same folder as the original game exe, overwrite the file and play :D

I just do not get it. Did you even install the game ?

tbaher 13-04-2005 22:28

I think what you read about a temporary directory was referring to a warez version that was compressed.. so you had to decompress it into a folder.. or something..

or is it the NFO file giving instructions for warezing?

NFO files for cracks come from warez versions of games (this is why they say "Burn the game into a CD" as step 1)

Install the game from your original CDs .. run it .. if it runs fine .. then fiddle with the cracks..
if it doesnt run well with original CDs.. or if you don't have the original CDs.. then NEVER post anything about it here..

Good luck..

What version of your game? and where did you get that crack? there's two version crack in gamecopyworld, just try that all!

That would be for rips, but if you read closer to what he said, he said that he heard from somewhere to install into a temporary directory, I just tried to give him the directions he needed to copy over the crack.

Plus Granny2.dll is a part of bink inc. who do the bink player, granny is used for animations.

:)

I should ALWAYS quote so that people know who i'm talking to :)

I apologize dabhand .. i was talking about AdamW's post.. and where the thread was going

DABhand 15-04-2005 03:09

Tis ok dont worry about it :)

@tbahar
Yes that is why I always start with '@' (@tbahar), so others always know who I am directing my comments too. It certainly saves some confusion that way. ;)

tbaher 15-04-2005 19:51

yeah i occasionally do that (the @whoever) but that implies that you're referring to their last post..
in this instance i am refering to some other post.. (but same thread)
thanks for your support ;)

I just use the @whoever to imply who I am talking too, then just 'Quote' the line from the post I am implying too!
That way it is directed at who it is meant to be and reffering to what they want or asked or whatever. ;)
