Backup PC games with Alcohol 120%

Hello. I have searched for past topics and have found a few, but none have gotten me to my goal. I'm trying to backup a heavily used copy of C&C Generals Zero Hour. Not real familiar with Alcohol 120% yet, but I click on the copy wizard, select the drive the original disc is in and then select the target drive and start. I get a ton of "read data examination errors" in the beginning, then it starts burning fine. After it is complete, the new disc autoplays fine. I click play on the menu but it never loads up. I can only assume I'm doing something wrong? Maybe something with the copy protection? I think it uses a recent version of Safedisc. If I select "Safedisc 2/3" on datatype in Alcohol 120% before I burn, I get the same result. I also got Alcoholer, but I have no idea how to use it...... or even Alcohol 120 for that matter. :( Help!

Burner to Burner equals NO! NO!

What is going wrong is you are trying to copy the disc from one burner to another burner. This way of copying might be okay for simple data or music cds but games are very dependent on perfect 1:1 copying. First of all your burner needs to be able to produce exact copies of cd images. Plextor,LG,Liteon are all good burners for this. Games are made with copy protection as you might have noticed.Eg. Safedisc,Starforce etc. It is VERY important to make an image of the disc first to your HD. Then Burn the image to a cd. This way you are reading the disc with your burner then writing the disc with the same burner. You will have a better copy and less trouble installing the game from the copy. If you don't have a 1:1 burner as mentioned above then you WILL need a NOCD crack for the game to work. If a copied game installs and dosen't play or asks for the disc then you didn't make an exact copy. You have a lot to learn as you progress into learning how to back-up your games. So I suggest you use Google and read some of the great info supplied here in the tutorials section. Goodluck.
