Why you can't read the System Requirements on the gamebox, before buying a game?

cause i ordered that game online,
so i couldn't read the System Requirements on the gamebox before
and the official System Requirements
for this game on´the Atari website are Windows98 /2000/XP

(Thanks ATARI :mad: )

now i hope some coders make a Win98 Pach or something

ps:kaiyooo+herc same person

I don't know on what site you have looked, but when i got to this site: http://www.atari-support.de/index.php?product=2589 , i can't see any WIN98 !!!

READ HERE:

http://www.atari.de/productpage.php?productID=461

i think it does'nt matter if it's the collectors edition or the normal one
(that would be total unfair)

ps : können wir deutsch reden ?

@herc
Yes I can clearly see it says Win98! If I was you I would be demanding a refund if you cannot get the game to work on your Win98 system! ;)
P.S: and why do you have 2 user names? :confused:

DABhand 05-04-2005 09:31

Did you update to latest patch for game?

Have you installed GFX card drivers?

Have you installed DirectX 9?

Do you have compatible GFX card and Sound Card?

DABhand 05-04-2005 09:34

Also Securom have released an updated exe for the game here

http://www.securom.com/support/custo...2/actofwar.zip

I think its for english not sure on german etc

ProtectionID scan shows no protection on this file, only this:

Code:

File Type : Exe, Size : 20413952 (01377E00h) Bytes
-> Suspicious MZ Header..
[!] Possible CD/DVD-Key or Serial Check -> CDKey
- Scan Took : 4.562 Seconds

So I guess I'm gonna test this one and see what happens. Perhaps it is an "official" NoCD for the patch. I'll be back later.

DABhand 05-04-2005 10:15

I dunno, but its straight from securom so I doubt there is any badness involved, and it may possibly be a no-cd seeing as many are having problems with their latest protection :)

kosmiq 05-04-2005 10:58

Well the file is not a crack. I tried first installing from my backup, applied the RLD crack to start the game once, reverted to original .exe. Patched the game, tried to start it. It says "no disc inserted". Applied the file, still the same message.

Uninstalled the game, installed from my original disc, started it once with CD in drive, patched, tried to play - no problems. Applied this file, the game started for me. Removed the CD and tried to play, no go.

Long story short, this is not a NoCD or FixedEXE.

sorry but this is not possible in Germany (yeah ... it is CRAP),
one the gamebox is opened,exchange/money back is impossible
no matter if its your fault or not :mad: :mad: :mad:

Luci 05-04-2005 12:53

@herc
they didn't answer???wtf???

kosmiq 05-04-2005 15:05

Send more mails to them, if they still refuse to answer get regged in their official forums (if you aren't). If that does not help write what has happened on some big sites (surely you have some real geeky site in germany too) that often helps alot.

About the open-box-"law" it is the same here in sweden, the only chance to get a new one is if the CD was broken when the game was purchased. Sometimes not even that will be enough for them, as they claim that you have broken it yourself... :mad:
