Trouble getting online with the PS2.

Hi my friend just bought a non-modded slim model PS2 and we are having a hell of a time trying to get the online software setup using the PS2 Browser V3 software that comes with the unit.

He has a cable modem, from Optimum Online, plugged directly into the unit. When the modem was connnected to his PC I did an ipconfig/all and thought I had all of the info I needed but I still can't get through.

I don't know what info I need to input in the DHCP Hostname field but I believe every other field I put in the correct info. I understand that I may have to leave everything blank and JUST enter the DHCP Hostname information but again I am not sure what belongs in that field. The only thing that we haven't tried was unplugging and resetting the modem, other than that I entered just about every piece of data in as many combinations as I could think of and it always says error connecting to the DNS. Thanks for any help, peace.

There should have been an IP addy for the DHCP server in the ipconfig /all

Yeah, it was the same address as the IP address and I tried it, it didn't work when I entered it with all the other info manually.

It cant be the same???

Is the modem connected to a router by anychance?

No the modem is connected directly to the PS2. When I type in ipconfig/all which "field" exactly do I need to look for? The language between the PS2 and ipconfig is not 100% synonomous so maybe I was just looking at the wrong listing in ipconfig? And if possible could you give me an example of what a DHCP Hostname would look like. Is it a number, a name, a word, whats the syntax, etc.

Just try setting up an ICS through Windows...

I got it guys. I entered ONLY the DHCP server number/hostname and left everything else on automatic. This worked after unplugging/resetting the modem.

The DHCP number was not the same as the IP as I said before, it was the same as the primary DNS number though, I was confused on that. Anyways, thanks for the help.
