Does anyone know if I can get a no cd patch thats supports AMD 64bit computers? I have downloaded all the patches that I can find but none of them work, as they only have the 32bit files.

Hi brownie93music,

Uhm, I don't think that crackers give a damn about 64-bit CPU's at this moment. After all, you _can_ run 32-bit applications on even a 64-bit CPU, under a 64-bit operating system, right? Can you be more specific about _why_ you need such a no-CD patch?

Joe

I used the no cd patch on my old 32bit pc and it works fine. I was hoping to use a no cd patch to save on wear on the cd, plus its easier than to keep swapping cd's each time I want to play something different.
Every patch I have downloaded only has 3 files in the system folder, but upon installing the game onto my 64bit pc there is 3 files in the folder.
Yes you can run 32bit apps on a 64bit based system, the game works fine when using the game's cd.

How different is the 64bit mode from the 32bit mode?

Hey Karthik 2.0,

No how is 64-bit mode different from 32-bit mode! ;) Although the usage of 64-bit registers is very nice, it won't make your PC fly significantly faster unless not only the operating system but also the _applications_ are compiled into 64-bit executables!

However, CPU companies _must_ sell 64-bit CPU's already - even if it doesn't make sense - because that's the only way of winning back the investments, thus making the technology cheap. _Then_ will 64-bit CPU's be available in large quantities, at higher clock rates, for sensible prices and at _then_ will this be useful for people, especially gamers.

But, c'mon, 64-bit CPU's into desktop PC's, for the average secretaries? After having done 64-bit multiplication and division in 16-bit assembly and 32-bit SQL, I find this hype quite ridiculous... ;)

Joe
