problem reading DVD backup games(messiah)
 

my ps2 takes a few boots untill it recognizes the DVD.


CD backups works perfect.

p.s.

only the boot is problematic, if the game boots it works fine!!

What version is the PS2? Have you tried cleaning the laser?? What brand of media are you using :confused: . Give us a little more info.

I'm using VERBATIM media (i also used SILVER LINE before, had the problem in both)

i did clean te lense using special cd.

and i think i have version 4/5.

Its hard to say without having the console in hand. Versions 4,5 are pretty old, to guess i would say the laser is on its way out.

but how do you explaine the fact..

Usually the first thing to go is the dvd playback. The PS2 use two different types of laser diodes. one for cd, one for dvd which is why cd games boot fine and dvd doesnt. As far as DVD playing fine once loaded that depends on the game. Some games load data differently compaired to others.

Couldnt have said it better. CD based media is also much easyer for the laser to read.

any suggestions abouy fixing it?

I would consider getting a new laser only get one installed by a pro like Spedmetal or someone with experience swaping, adjusting lasers. Do not just buy one and swap it out without using a multimeter and checking the pots first. If your in the US contact Spedmetal at www.norcalmods.com.
