V10 issue any suggestions?
 

Thanks for looking. Ive been installing chips since the ps2's came out and the chips were ready.

I just installed a messiah pro 2 chip in 2 different version 10's. One was mine and one was for a friend. My friends just up and died on him with only 2 months of use on it. Mine has worked flawlessly.

I tried taking my laser and fitting it into his with no luck. And I took his laser and puting it in his and that didnt work either. THe lasers physicly look a little different but I thought they should work.

Anybod got any ideas what could be the problem? I also removed the modchip before these tests on his ps2. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me,

On v9 and v10, I think you need Romeomod if you are gonna use a mod chip.

Thanks for the fast reply WOO. Yes Im currently reading on the ROMEO MOD.

I guess Im just looking for some direction to be able to get this v10 working again if at all possible. Or if someone has any othere ideas, I would appriciate it. THanks,

I just found a website that tells you about testing the laser and Im wondering if some of the experts can help me.

On reading the coils of the laser Im getting these results:
Across coil 1 is 1.1ohms
Across coil 2 is 4.7ohms


PLease help if anyone knows if its bad or not. Thank you,

The llaser is fried and most likely the LA chip to? Does the one you are calling "dead" do anything at all?

The DEAD one goes to the browser screen and thats it. Ive tried movies, cdr originals, and dvd original games. NOTHING boots.

Now since I posted, ive been trying to read up on this issue. The LA chip doesnt look like its been overheated but Im sure that doesnt matter. Im sure its fried because my WORKING laser out of my ps2 ver10 didnt work in the DEAD one either.

I guess my next question is, where and how much are the lasers and a replacement LA chip are?

What country are you in? Also, are you going for a new original LA chip or an LA6508 (RII)?

Thanks for the reply. Since the last post, Ive talked to spedmetal about my problem. I about 75% sure my LA chip is ok because I found out there are 2 versions of lasers out for the PS2 v10 and you cant switch them. I ohmed out the bad laser and its not right.

Im from the USA. Im not searching for a HD7 laser for my v10. Hopefully its not that much. Ive also heard this HD7 laser is crap so Im not sure if I want to even try to replace it if its going to go out again. Not sure,
