Trouble installing os on new system
:( I recently bought a Gigabyte nforce 3 mobo, AMD64 athlon 2800+, and having trouble installing any OS.I have 2 optical drives both hooked up to the IDE 2, My HD hooked up to the IDE 1 (master).I have tried clearing the cmos first, and every possible boot order. Here is what happens, I create new partition, format HD, and start istalling windows, It copy's files then wants to restart. Upon restart boot order 1-floppy
2-optical 3-HD When it boots from cd it wants to start the install all over again like i never did anything to it. boot order 1-floppy 2-HD 3-optical When it boots up it Varifying DMI data pool... And just hangs their. Now I own Win 98, Win Me, Win 2000pro, and XPpro upgrade. I have tried all of these with the same results. I do have a OS running on it right now ..WINME but i installed it on my HD with another system then swaped it into the new system and it updated to the new MOBO however i would rather be running 2000pro or xp of course and would appreciate any ideas.PLEASE thanks StratusMatt :D |
hmmm thats a dodgy one to figure out, ok, get rid of all hdds and leave only 1, if possible leave only one cd drive too, now try again :)
Well that is the only suggestion Gigibyte has sent me, but i tried that too. Still the same responses
ok, how about, the only hard drive u leave is ur old one, the one u used b4 u got all this new kit?
Yep tried both HD's too.
hmm i cant think of anything else, mayby the possibility that something is faulty?
That is the only conclusion I can come to also :( must be the mobo. Ill call and check today.
ok, keep me updated *wants to know the end of the drama* :P
boot from the 98 cd if that is what you are installing then after it copies its files and restarts REMOVE the cd before it boots dont boot from floppys they are garbage
Yep tried that too, with and without boot disk. Ive been trying to install Win2000pro so i can then install my WInXPpro upgrade.
