Ultimate newbie?
Hiya all,
First post, just wanna say whatsuup! Getting a slimline PS2 tomorrow, yeah consider me a techno-peasant, better late than never tho .... I have looked at the posts on this board and have decided to get a crystal chip and the laser mod, already d/l the hacks, etc - but got a real newbie question .... how to flash the chip? Can I write the hack data to cd and flash it from there? From what I've read it can be flashed from the memory card - but how-the-hell do you get the data on to the card in the first place  ???? Thanx, X |
The firmware comes in a compressed file (i.e. ZIP or RAR). Unzip/rar the file, and you should have a .bin and .cue file. You burn the .CUE file to CD-R (using Nero) and then put it in the PS2. When it boots, you have 2 options - Flash Chip and Install BMAN. Firstly, select Flash Chip. You will now be able to boot backups. Then, insert a memory card, and choose 'Install BMAN' (if you want) and this will make the PS2 boot up into the very cool chip OS. :)

its only cool if you get the new version!!! otherwise it sucks just a tad believe me ;)

I didn't see a problem before...
auto boot didnt work, less features bit flickery its just better with the update trust me oh and u can also delete the bm with the new one.
Sean, I dont know why you feel this way. The BM works flawless and has awesome features. Auto boot doesnt worK?!?! WTF the CC auto boots flawless unless maybe you have it is a PS2 with a peace of **** laser that any auto boot chip would have trouble with. Flickering... were? Maybe you need to check your instal Sean.
nothing wrong with the install. on the old boot man when the games were in the drive they never auto booted till i changed the boot man 2 1.04 and the flickering has always happend chiped or not i think its my brothers tv set.
The last one I did, was using hacked 0.0.7 and the autoboot there worked fine
Are you sure you had the autoboot feature turned on in the configuration. So far i've had absolutely no problems with these chips what so ever.
