The Sims2

Hello,

I need some help with The Sims2 because I cannot build a new house or expand a house. I can play the game and I can excess the building options, but I can't use those options. Anybody an idea???

Please hurry, cause my girlfriend is getting angrier with the minute ;)

Hmm, did you even consider to do a little search on this forum? This is known issue with the WRONG crack....

Use the following crack from GameCopyWorld:

The Sims 2 v1.0 [MULTI]No-DVD/FIXED EXE (Works 100%)

NOTE: It is a BACKUP-CD crack, so you have to put CD1 in the CD-/DVD-DRIVE!!!

The other cracks, which you find on GCW or MegaGames do NOT work correctly!

The mini backup image on GCW works fine, even with the update. On the U.S. version of the game, none of the NoCD fixs work right, they do just what your talking about, can't build, and or can't save, maybe its the same with the version sold in Netherlands.

There will always only ever be one Monty Burns!! The original one from Springfield!

Smithers...........!!!!!!!!!!! :D :p

What I don't understand, is if these cracks don't work, why arent they removed. Or at the very least there should be a note appended to the description of the file.

It's a waste of hard-drive space for the server and a waste for the people downloading it.

Not that I'm complaining. Its just not efficient.

@Asimov
I don't know why they are not removed, but for the fixes which do not work correctly, there is a "The file doesn't work correctly" statement on the bottom.

@Grumpy
Do you think I am to rude sometimes :) ?

Asimov 16-02-2005 18:57

You’re absolutely right Monty. I was recalling quite a while back when the build problem was commonly known over here at fileforums but there was no message beneath each of the files.

I guess they made some progress. My bad.

The problem stands that if the file is not working properly, why isn't it removed. Maybe it’s a courtesy to the crack makers. Simply removing it, regardless of its less than perfect functionality, might be a kick in the face for their time and effort.

Hi Asimov,

I don't think Empire would have the time to deal with non-functioning patches, besides the flood of functioning ones. ;) Also, if I were Empire, :D I might not want to take upon myself the "responsibility" of removing patches that _might_ work for _some_ people, while not working for others (majority? minority? how should I know if I might not even have that game!).

The best one can do, keeping his or her objectivity, is adding a comment like "some people reported this patch to be not working properly" or "the creator/the submitter of this patch made a note that this one works properly unlike that other" or similar. Bye,

Joe
