Sony HDD vs. 3rd party HDD

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting HD Loader, but I can't decide whether I should get the official Sony HDD or 3rd party.
Some advantage of Sony HDD are as follows:
better compatibility
FF 11
storing game saves

Advantage of 3rd party:
huge disk space

I'm primarily concerned about the first advantage. I heard that some games work in official HDD, whereas they won't work on 3rd party HDD. In general, I heard official HDD works better with HD Loader than 3rd party. Does anybody have further info on this?
What kinds of problems are there for 3rd party HDD?
Is it a big issue?
Currently, about how many games have problem with 3rd party HDD?
Lastly, I heard from someone that he had trouble with Sony HDD for his modded PS2 whereas he was find with 3rd party HDD. Has anybody experienced anything like this?

Thanks

A few games are not compatable with HDloader but not many. The only game i know of that must use a official Sony HD is FF11. I dont play FF so to me i would rather have a 120gb Maxtor or Seagate because of the extra space. I dont have a Sony hd so i dont know if it detects modchips or not. I do know most "modern" modchips have no problems with 3rd party HDs and HDloader.

OK, thank you for your opinions, but what are the reasons for choosing 3rd party? Is it simply more space? Perhaps more bang for your buck?
One of my goals is to eliminate any unnecessary extra work/headaches. I would really like to stay away from things like patching, homebrew apps, and exploit. Having said so, I was under the impression that with Sony HDD, you can run some of the games fine whereas you would need patching for those games if you used 3rd party HDD. Is this correct or wrong?
I'm not totally convinced either way(Sony or 3rd party) yet. If I see motivations/reasons for choosing one over the other, maybe I can make up my mind. Can you help me please.

Thanks
