hope this works

This error means the game can’t find its \Main directory. This problem can occur if you have installed the game in the root drive (for example C:\). If this occurs, reinstalling the game in a subdirectory of the root drive will solve the issue.
it worked for me btw :D

OK, I'm somewhat of a newbie on game disc protection so this question has me baffled. Yes, I own a legitimate retail CoD disc. Trying to avoid using the original disc as much as possible, I copied Disc 1 using Alcohol with settings for SafeDisc protections. But just as the original posted indicated, after installing from the back up, I get the same "can't load Default Cfg" and no, the game is not installed to the root folder but rather the default folder suggested during the install.

If I re-install using the factory original disc, I can use the back-up to authenticate the CD and the game runs just fine. So obviously Alcohol is on the right track but is still missing something. Any suggestions on how to create a legitimate back-up?
