How Do You Rip From Vhs To Dvd

Does anyone know how to rip from VHS to dvd? What hardware and software do i need?

THANKS!!

I think you will need a card of some sorts that allows you to plug your rca cables into your pc. Im sure the software will come with the card.

Get yourself a card and then ask your questions.

Most likely itll save your video to either mpeg or avi formats.

ATI All in Wonder video cards. You can transport anything into your computer with them. You can even plug your cable into it. Record, and burn TV shows to DVD.
But if your one of those prople with a "pre-made" computer. You probly have intergrated video(no AGP slot to install this card). And you will need what he said above.
I myself use Nero Express to make the DVDs.

Yes, you should have audio; check your connections in the ATI AIW manual, are there separate connections for the audio? Did you connect the audio to your card properly?

Once you have that problem solved and create a new video with sound, use a burner software like Nero 6 Ultra Edition to create your DVD. MPEG2 is the correct format for a DVD but you will just need to prepare it for viewing from a DVD. In Nero 6 Ultra Edition, you can do this by creating a video DVD (not a data burn), which will prepare the required structure (e.g., VIDEO_TS/filename.VOB) so that this video will automatically play in your DVD player. If you want to create a nice menu interface, you might be able to also do this with Nero, or another tool like Adobe Encore.

Get your self a HP external dvd movie writer.
Hook up a VCR to the movie writer and movie writer to the usb port on your computer.
You will run into problems with "macrovision" protection on the VHS. There is a product called "clarrifier" available from Facet Video. which you install between the VHS and movie writer.

It takes about 4 hours to copy a VHS. but it works!

If only everyone were smart enough to purchase a Sony Vaio. Mine came with "Giga Pocket" I love it!!!

I have a Sony Vaio Notebook.

IF YA GOT AN ATI CARD
this is your CORRECT ANSWER
forget the other stuff

and yes it will take a LONG time...............
to convert and burn one

(buy an NVIDIA next time/ much better drivers, ATI historically has driver problems)

actually INTEL controls about 40% of the video market
since most idiots are willing to accept what is built into their store bought mobo
(Intel doesn't even make cards)

BUT................................

NVIDIA is # 2
ATI and VGA are well behind
(constantly playing catch-up with NVIDIA)
if you are primarilty a gamer
(which I am)
you know the score

if not
as a general rule
a NVIDIA card is gonna play most everything on your PC better than an ATI
and like I said
they update their drivers ALL THE TIME
and they tend to WORK
wherin ATI's drivers are suspect
