i got a japon version of ps2 but want to know if this is normal ..
on the back of my console the tag says schp 15000 but when
i open the configuration it's says UNITscph 10000

is this normal ???

i get it from my cousins boy friend who by it from one of its friend but
they are not togheter anymore so i can't ask where he get it

Someone swapped the guts of your ps2. Probably a botched mod install or sumthin.

I have JP 15000, and the configuration says 10000. The box, and the sticker on the PS2 indicates 15000. So, I have the same thing happenning as you. I'm assuming it's normal.

You need a mod chip to play US titles on a JAP ps2.

I just modded a JAP SCPH-55000GT yesterday. It was the limited addition ceramic white model, very awesome looking, with a MI. Just because the JAP consoles are also NTSC doesnt mean they have the same region. This is why US games will fail on a JAP model.

If your asking me...... yes the only way to play a US title on a JAP unit is with a mod chip.

The lasers are the same....... they are all sh*tty.
