I like Verbatim cd-r's but most Verbatim dvd-r i have tried were not to good. You can check out the Ritek G04 media or the Taiyo Yuden dvd-r's at www.rima.com. I wont say there cheaper but there definately better media.

woo124 24-01-2005 13:59

spratster 24-01-2005 14:12

Actually i have noticed there's a big difference in 'Verbatim' brand media especially cd-r. There regular cd-r's suck yet 'data life plus' is probably the best there is. There dvd-r work great for movie's but suck on larger PS2 games that get burned all the way out to the edge. Its also very common for media companys like Verbatim to buy from different media Manufacturers then apply there own label. The quality depends on the type of dye used.

ive never used ty cds. To be honest it doesnt matter what brand cd-rs i get i usually just go to any old store and grab a pack of respectable ones like verbatim or memrex or something like that. Dvd its another matter there way too expensive for what they are.

Depends where you are what type your buying. Svp.co.uk have 3 different dye types for verbatim i personally go for the ty ones there better, i think i should just buy there unbranded ty dvds cost hell lot less. ive seen some on some site called "budget" and they seem to have ty dye but i donno if its worth the risk with a title of that it just looks cheap!

the ones that i am getting are the ones from amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846
I ordered a game from a guy online and it was on verbatim media and it played perfectly
i think its a pretty good deal cuz its like $0.25 each disc

Praz, dont mention illegally purchased games here. Its against the rules!!

I found that when using Verbatim dvd-r media versus my Ridata, I have to burn at a very slow speed (say 1X-2.4X) with the Verbatim for the backup to come out right. This especially happens with games that burned all the way to the edge...like Mercenaries for example. But when I used my Ridata I was succesful to burn at a higher speed with such games and got very good results. My cousin is convinced that any media would work as long as you burn it very very slow, so we tested a few brands. Verbatim worked out burning at 1X-2.4X, TDK worked at around 2.4X, Fujifilm was ok aroud 4X and Ridata worked at 8X. And when I say "worked", I mean I was able to make a backup with no blockiness, no audio blips and no skipping, especially during FMV's.

Hey I wonder if Gamecopyworld will write off all of the research I am doing for this site as tax deductible. :)
