sounds exactly like my problem, hanging on the dnas screen..maybe it isnt the apple chip. open ports:3658 tcp internal/external & 6000 udp internal/external all w/ ps2 ip? is this right

barkroc2 24-01-2005 12:11

b t w:
found the problem - and it wasn't the Messiah 2.

I have a new system, and basically an older version of Sygate Home Network (which I believe now is discontinued).

Basically, I used my NVidia LAN instead of the Marvell Yukon and instead of Sygate, I used Windows XP ICS. Works great

&

its 3658 and 6000 on tcp and udp, it will only work if you use windows xp ics. Its a fix so you can play ea games. I had to call up sony to find that out!

http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=67774 hmmm weird exactly the same.

barkroc2 24-01-2005 13:32

it is...are the settings right?

seaneyb2003 24-01-2005 13:46

yep mind you i dont own a chipped ps2 and all my games are origonals. Plus you need your firewall disabled (Norton and mcafee only!!!)

barkroc2 24-01-2005 13:52

dnas error 864 w/ madden 05

barkroc2 24-01-2005 13:54

i got 3658 in/out tcp and 6000 in/out udp w/ the ps2 ip in as host. at least its not freezing on the connecting screen but still dnas error # above

barkroc2 24-01-2005 13:57

dnas error 864 w/ kombat also

barkroc2 24-01-2005 14:08

apparently dnas error 864 is "invalid media", so this means its not the chip right, but i must be screwing up the patch-job?

lufcfan 24-01-2005 14:21

But the thing is, I never touched my firewall. As soon as I set up my ICS - it worked straight off. It all depends which firewall you have...

yep like i said it depends what firewall you have :) windows firewall does nothing :D

barkroc2 24-01-2005 14:37

all firewalls disabled----

dnas error 864
Invalid Disk ID.
Media Error. Bad brand of backup disk. Possible burning speed to high.
ill retry with some patience and a good dvd see if that helps. @least the chips not being detected(i think)

lufcfan 24-01-2005 15:05

Well, I use PC-Cillin's firewall on Home Network mode and that cuts out any problems with non-connections.

btw Barkroc2, which method do you use to patch your backups - the WinDIP way, or the PS2NFO.com way?

barkroc2 24-01-2005 15:15

winDIP (1.7 i believe) but i think maybe obtaining the id is the prob. i used my nascar 2005 just now and got all #'s. isnt tere supposed to be a combo of letters and #'s?
my disc id util is dated like august 2003 maybe its no good ?

lufcfan 24-01-2005 15:43

no that util is fine. Not all games have letters and numbers. Some people believe that by repeatedly hitting X obtains a more accurate key - but I don't know how true that is because I never do this and always get an accurate key :)

I think I read somewhere not so long back though that the Magic III had trouble reading valid IDs off of discs. Maybe other mods of the same type / age do too - I'm not sure?
