Scared to install Half-life2 onto my new system.
 

I'd like to put Half-life 2 on my new system but I hate all the spyware and crap it wants to run in the background in order to use the game. Does anyone have a
solution to fix these problems short of not using the game at all?

2. In the thread mentioned above, "Steam Discussion is not Allowed. This thread is strictly for the Boxed Retail. If you wish to Discuss the Pros and Cons of the Steam Software itself, then please post in the General Gaming Forum".

3. Get a pre-activated (read: warezed) version of the game... :D (Uhm, well, if you think about it, it's not that funny at all... :mad: )

4. Complain at Valve...

lol, if you're so much afraid of 'spyware' and 'crap' software then I recommend uninstalling any Microsoft O/S :rolleyes:

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with Steam. It being spyware etc. is an urban legend. But since here is not the place for Steam discussions I think you should post your concerns at the Steam forums @ www.steampowered.com.
