Hi,

Many people seem to prefer v7 PS2 over even later versions. What's so special about v7? Are there any reason why so many pwople prefer v7?

Better lasers and circuit boards. No need to do a Romeo mod or any other laser fix after mod install. HD compatable.

Best lasers of any ps2 version is why. Others can be just as good with a little work like the Romeo Mod. But a v7 is great right from the start. I would have also said the v5 a couple years back but now they are a bit too old.

I heard a few people mention Romeo mod. What is it? Is it the name of the chip?

On a v9,10 you lift pin #17 on the LA chip and change the power supply from 12v by soldering a wire to the lifted pin leg and connecting it to a 5v source.

I'm sorry, but I'm quite ignorant. What's LA chip?

Do a little research then, I could give you the technical answer but you would be even futher lost. The PS2 scene is covered with info like this. Do a little reading.
