Which v12 fix do you use?
 

I've just tried a summone fix & it fried my v12 in seconds :mad: I've had no machines die with a diode board fitted but decided to give summone a go cos I'm tite & thats cheap :D

No, there is no sure fire solution. The scene can't decide on a sound fix. In fact I'm not so sure these fixes are even needed. I have heard reports of people that had there lasers burn our with out any fix and they simply replaced the laser with a new one and its now working again. This leads me to believe it might have been a simple problem with poor lasers on the initial release, but who knows for sure.

I have tried a combination of the diode fix and the PIC fix and they seem to be working good. But there may never be a problem with the lasers or V12's to begin with so who's to say its even needed. Its more of a peace of mind thing for people at this point.

I voted for the diode fix on your pole Hull as you dont have one for the PIC/Diode fix combo.

I have been playing GTASA a lot today on my PSTwo and it started screetching when trying to play sound and it froze a couple times. Thank god its in warranty. The cd has no scratches. Should i send it in to sony?

My USA V12 has been absolutely hammered since I bought it day of release and i've yet to see any problem at all with it.

Is it chipped?

I know what you guys all think about the swap magic discs so I know I'm gonna get flamed but here's the lowdown.

My first ps2 was a v4 with messiah one in, lasted a decent amount of time then died. Everyone on the forum stated that on my next machine I should get the Magic 3.1 (Which if I had of done I would have no doubt encountered the Kingdom Hearts/GTA VC syndrome rendering the machine useless for these games (Whether backup or not).......I saw two of my mates machine with this syndrome and to say it pissed them off was an understatement.

Instead I decided to use the spare No Solder modchip I had lying around in my new V7.......which although didn't run a small number of backups didn't bother me cause I just used the originals.

Still to this date I can't be bothered with getting the v7 done as it's still going strong and the V12 is no different. They sent me a new set of the Swap Magic 3.3 discs which run EVERY and I repeat EVERY game i've tried including all the know SM2.0 problem games. I bought this lovely contraption............

and now the V12 plays backups too....and flawlessly

Flame as much as you want but the 5 seconds of waiting for the ps2 to boot the disc before changing the disc really doesn't bother me. On another note people from this forum that know me know that up until a few months back I used to install a number of mods for the ps2 and box (most supplied my charlie_ps2) so i'm not no newbie shouting his mouth of.....just my own opinion

A) To help out someone who's using them wrong or
B) to inform another member that what they're saying is incorrect.

It's just my personal opinion as is the state of this forum nowadays as it's simply turned into a clone of PS2ownz (Pro one Anti everything else ) (& Yes it hurts to say it)

I used to always use this forum and have met a lot of decent people (BG/Tyler/Psxpaul/Warlock etc) some of which have even helped with things other than the 'scene' but now I can't be bothered because week in week out every post is the same old thing.

I remember the days where it was more of a community rather than the same old drizzle and now all it is is a one sided argument on everything (Which has been proven in the past to be the wrong thing!)

Charlie_ps2 was a messiah guy but look at his reply here http://fileforums.com/showpost.php?p=85813&postcount=5 Nowadays it would read more like "That's crap get a ???????"


Anyway after getting trivial i'l get back the the question lol.....

Have you seen there newest news post about that gay muppet chip. Its an out an out clone of the Magic Kx and they think its the only chip that has no laser issues in the v12's. This is pathetic info they are telling there visitors as the chips have nothing to do with the v12 laser problem but sonys poor manufacturing practices. You wont find this kind of crap being promoted here.

Also there is no banning of people simply because the mods/admin doesnt agree with your post.

I almost felt offended when I read this but then I realized that your kind of right but at the same time wrong. Most of the people stand on the same side of the fence on this forum not because of political reasons but because we find what we promote to be supperior and we dont promote this or that chip or device because we dont like such and such team/group.

Anyway we are getting off topic here.

I feel insulted. I have never EVER said pro one thing anti anything else. Why do you think there is currently a Crystal Chip review up? Also in the UIS there is a link to Duo chips?

I am and have always been a firm believer in "bigger and better". I have only fought against Z and his dubious tactics and forum handling. He is total bull****! I will never support him whether or not he actually comes out with something himself that is better.

That is the only subject I truely hate. As long as Im a moderator here I will never support any "Z" products.

BTW Z would have banned you buy now and have asked you for money to come back.

@Sped - When I say a clone of ownz I don't mean by one specific chip I mean by one technique. I remember dust2dust and charlie making a post which reviewed each technique and said the pros and cons of each. This gave people a real insite into the differences of each rather than getting the same answer (That's crap swapcrap **** will kill your ps2 etc etc) - Generally posted by people who've never used them.

As I said i'm not pro swap magic and am a retired installer myself :rolleyes: but my view on the forum still stands, New member joins forum and doesn't even know what a modchip is, 2 weeks later they're following suit saying everything else is crap when they've not even had theirs done!....a main reason why I hardly post nowadays.

On another note it's good to see an old timer like yourself still here! I've seen you help a number of people on various different levels and it's appreciated!

the best fix (in my opinion) are the 4 zener that limit the current during the normal disc reading and during the "block" of the pstwo.....

You may not intend to offend anyone but comparing FF to PS2ownz IS a insult!! If you feel that way then why come back here! None of us here has anything to sell unlike PS2ownz. We dont steal other peoples ideas and work like Z has, We dont ban people who have problems with Swap magic unlike PS2ownz, We give honest advice unlike ownz. Bringing up a 3 year old post from charlie_ps2 is kind of stupid seeing as the only backup options we had then was the Neo2 and the Origa chip. We also know charlie was baised when it came to the messiah as well as a very good liar. If you mastered the Swap magic card method then great, i'm happy for you but i will NEVER suggest it to a member when they can buy a no-swap chip for the same money and i will NEVER support Z or any of his products. I'm going to end this thread because it got way off topic and could get nasty!
