Reset Ribbon Cable
 

Hi All!
Younger brother has messed his PS2 up over Xmas. He has been having trouble reading games (even brand new ones), opened up the PS2 to clean the laser and when putting back together drove one of the screws through the reset switch ribbon cable. So can anybody tell me where I can get him a new one and can the laser be adjusted for better performance.

It can be adjusted but it should be done with a multimeter by someone who knows what the pot settings should be, otherwise you could very well blow the optical head. It may also be worth trying to simply move the laser closer to the disc with the white cog before tampering with the pot settings though.

As for the cable, eBay has tons of 'em floating about :)
