Need Help with Resident Evil Apocalypse

Im trying to backup my copy of Resident Evil 2 but I am getting the same problems as speedking. See http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=66122 I get the same error. I have Clonedvd2 2.5.4.3 and Anydvd 4.3.0.1 and no luck. I also got dvd decrypter 3.5.1 I tried the dvd decrypter and it started extracting the files but im getting lots of read errors. I am currently using default settings as I have never used this before. Please help. Thanks. :)

Ok the fix for this is to get VobBlanker and have it process your movie. I have used it to make a backup of my Resident Evil Apocalypse movie and it worked great. VobBlanker works just like DVDDecrypter but it fixes the problems that this dvd has. Afterwards just use CloneDVD2 as normal. Also keep in mind that you may have to have Anydvd disabled before using VobBlanker.

Get VobBlanker here: http://www.posunplugged.com/jsoto/to...r_1603_exe.zip

Its freeware so be greatful.

Thanks for the help but I still can't get it to work. I turned off anydvd and used the following settings. See link. http://img94.exs.cx/img94/4264/vobblanker17bl.jpg
Then I pressed process and got this error. See link.

the Author of DVD Decrypter has released a fix for this movie in here,
http://forum.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?showtopic=15390 ( you should register first)
anybody cares to try it since I don't have this movie yet.

TylerDurden 29-12-2004 06:42

All I had to do was put REA in my dvd reader and under "Input" I browsed to that reader and all the way to VIDEO_TS.IFO.

Then I left everything as is in VOBBlanker except for where I wanted the finished product to come out. Then I pressed "PROCESS!!" at the very bottom of the screen.

Reii

Thanx Tyler, it worked like a charm. :)

JPunisher 29-12-2004 12:39

Ok. I tried the VobBlanker and couldn't get it to work. I probably have a wrong setting. I posted the screenshots ontop with the errors and settings(See my previous post). I tried the fix khafan posted and it worked. I have the movie in my hard disk. Now I tried to use the Clonedvd to compress but I am getting the same error as before. Nothing has changed. Is there any way arround this? Thanks. :)

khafan 29-12-2004 13:51

try dvdshrink to compress it.

TylerDurden 29-12-2004 14:06

Yeah I had a problem with VOBBlanker with that dvd in my AO7 so I put it in my Toshiba reader and it worked fine. Im guessing that some people will have probs but there are other solutions.

If you get VOBBlanker to work your files will work on CloneDVD2 I dont know about the patched DVDDecrypter as I havent had to try it.

It Worked

Thanks khafan!!! I ran into the same problem as JPunisher. Then I used DVD Shrink (awesome Freeware, plus you get to see the movie in high speed while it is compressing). DVD Shrink also allows you to burn right from that program if you have Nero installed. I dont use Nero, so I took my compressed file and used CloneDVD 2. It worked like a charm.

make sure "perform deep analyze" has been selected in the "quality setting", it'll compress the movie in 2 pass. ;)

Thanks for the heads up. So can we expect all Columbia-Tri-Star to be like this. I saw other posts about Gothica and The Missing having similar issues.

TylerDurden 30-12-2004 09:03

I dont know about "The Missing" but I can tell you that I had no problems with "Gothica" whatsoever using just plain old anydvd.

Not to beat a dead horse, but has anyone narrowed down the issue with Resident Evil. When I tried DVD X-Copy, it would freeze while reading it. My other programs wouldnt even get that far. While the fix worked, I thought VOBBlanker would take forever. Anyway to speed that up?

TylerDurden 30-12-2004 11:24

No way to speed it up, that I know of. It took me about 30min to properly read it with vobblanker. Heck you only gotta do it once.
