burn with no DVD Burner?
is there anyway I can backup my XBOX games without a DVD burner?
|
Yes, upgrade your xbox Hard-drive and play them from that.
|
ok well....is there any way ftp them to my xbox with out upgrading my HDD?
and aside from doing that, is any way to back up my games onto a DVD-R or CD-RW using my regular CD burner.? |
if you don't upgrade your hdd you'll maybe be able to fit about 1 game on it.. which would be worthless.. face facts bud.. If you wanna do this you're gonna have to spend some green. Ask santa for a dvd burner or bigger hard drive.

Well guy, you could try your hand at ripping your games down to cdr size. Just know that you wont be able to do most of them and it will take a lot of time.

And if you managed to do that once you'd probably never attempt it again. Most likely you'd end up using your originals before that became a permanent thing for you.. (assuming your xbox will even read cdr media) |
how do I rip them down to CDR size?

Mainly what you would have to do is do a lot of searching on how to rip xbox games.

Sorry buddy, Basicly it isn't going to happen unless you spend some money. Either way you will need a modchip anyway, which will require you to open up your xbox and get your hands dirty. Secondly, you would only be able to put one xbox at a maximum on your standard xbox harddisk. You wouldn't even want to do that. Thirdly, there is no way a regular CD writer will ever be able to write to any blank DVD media. You might be able to get by with a CD-RW, but again you would need a mod chip. Besides all the games that would be small enough to fit on that disk would not be worth it anyway. The average xbox game is like 2gigs. I suggest you go to www.system-mods.com, pick up a mod chip, install it, go to www.newegg.com, pick yourself up a dvd burner and some blank media. Have at it boy...

alright, well....I do have a mod chip installed, the Executer.
and I do know how to rip games! just dont know how to shrink them top size for a CDR. but ok,, I just have to try to pick up a DVD Burner! |
Loading times on cd's are about 5 times longer from what I have seen. Ripping down to cd's not only make the game crap, but is also hard to do if possible. It requires downgrading audio and movie files, if not completely removing them. This would mean that you will have to convert them to a known format, downgrade, then convert back. Many filetypes don't even have tools though.
Some games like halo, can be split up. Like playing level 1-3 on one disk, 4-5 on another, etc...Not only would you have long loading times and no videos, but you would also have to change disks frequently. There's almost no games that will be able to be ripped. At leasr not any good ones. |
