V7 PS2 remod acting weird

I'm posting this for my friend and I think this is all that's happening. He has a V7 PS2 and up until 3-4 days ago he had a magic 3 installed until last week where he removed that one and installed a Duo 2 SE. Here's the problem it was working fine at first everything booted up but today he was playing a backup of GTA: SA the disc came out so he put the tray back in and after about 10 minutes the tray flew out (pretty quickly he said) after that he said the eject button wouldn't work. The ribbon for the eject and reset are fine but where he just used the wires from the previous install of the magic 3 swapping whatever and taking whatever off probably something screwed up. Could a wire coming loose cause this?

Yep. Take it apart and check all the wires are still intact... :)

I just checked it over myself none of the connections are bridged and they are soldered down good and in the right places. However I noticed the reset / eject cable wouldn't go in all the way (when it kinda locks into place and the dark blue line is out a little farther than the others) now all it's getting is a black screen the power light comes on and when I hit eject it acts like it resets but still with a black screen but the blue and green lights are on. I might have screwed up looking at the wires but is it possible for it to work for a bit before screwing up or could it be the reset/eject cable(saw on a few foums this happened)?

You may have a break in the wire that is shorting on something or getting pinched when reassembled.

the wires to the modchip or the cd-rom cable?

The Modchip

yeah any weird looking wires I replaced for him as far as I can tell everything looked fine, I also tried placing tape under and over the wires after.

I was looking around more on this problem and saw that if the BA5815FM chip fries it acts something like this could this be possible?

It's extremely unlikely...
