Dummy files in Midway Arcade Classic
can someone give me some advice on how to remove the dummy files that are included with the above title. Got it installed on my PS2 HDD and its over 4gig so just trying to make a bit more room.

Well youd have to replace them with 0byte dummies and then just rebuild the game. Shouldnt be that hard. Actually a lot of recent games have dummy files that are fairly large. Just make sure that they are indeed dummy files by using a hex editor to see if there is nothing but zero's inside.

I know the bit about deleting and re-building the ISO but its just identifying the files to be deleted, so its a case of looking at each individual 'big' file with the hex editor and deleting if its got no data in?

Dont just delete. I always replace in case something in the game happens to actually look for the dummy itll at least find it.
And yes you gotta check to see if the file is actually a dummy by using a hex editor. If you find anything other than 00000's all over the place then it may have something to do with the game. Only replace the all 00000 dummies. It shouldnt be that hard, most dummies are actually named "Dummy". Tyler! |
