Is there a NoCD fix that works 100% for the Sims 2 U.S. version?

Does the build option work with it? It states under the fix that it does not work correctly.

There is no 100% working cracks. The only way I know is to use IND's mini virtual disc which works great... no problems at all :)

By the way, I want to convert the installation from CD to DVD (I have the 4CDs version). The conversion worked fine, but the v1.1 update does not install. I keeps asking for CD4 (it doesn't matter which update, CD version update or DVD version update) :(
Anyone knows how to fix this ? ... or I will be forced to burn the game in CDs instead of a DVD-R ?

I think you will be able to install the 1.1 update if you would mount a stripped down mini image of disc 4. and mount that temporaly in Daemon Tools. If you put that image on the copy dvd, you will be able to install the update even without the original cd's. Maybe you'll have to make a mini-image of every cd, I dont know what the update requires more.

I did read somewhere how to make an image of the cd and how to make a mini-image from it. Look for it in the fileforums in a simsthread somewhere, i cant remember where or what the name of the tool was.

Ofcourse you could also wait to backup your CD sims untill there is released a fixed executable for the 1.1 update.

I tested what I suggested above and it works.

This is for the 4 CD version, eventually converted to DVD and using the Money fixed executable called No-DVD/fixed exe

To update your sims backupcopy succesfully to 1.1 do the following:
(note: after this you'll need a new fixed 1.1 executable that isnt out yet, but the purpose of this is to make your backup ready for a later update.

-Download the "thesims2_update_cd.exe" (only the cd version will work, even though you converted your 4CD's to a DVD installation so dont try the dvd version update.

-Create an image of the original Sims2 disc4 (labeled Sims2_4) using Alcohol 120% and select the Safedisc2/3 profile in Alc. 120%

-Mount the image in Daemon Tools 3.47 (press ctrl and shift on your keyboard to prevent the sims2 from starting up if you have installed it)

-Also copy back the original Sims2 executable from the original Sims2_1 CD to your installed program files folder or the update installation will halt on a error.
So overwrite the Money fixed exe again with original.

That's it, the update is installing correctly so you only need an image of CD4 where the update asks for when you start it.

So on your backup copy place a folder with an image of CD4, a copy of the original Sims2.exe and Daemon Tools 3.47 to be able to update later. Only thing thats needed later is a new fixed 1.1 exe or ofcourse the mini-image of CD1.

Note: Im not sure yet if a stripped or mini image of CD4 will work as I dont know if the update installation just checks the CD4 or needs also files from it to copy over during updating. But an image of CD4 is only 550 MB and a backupcopy on DVD of all your 4 Sims2 CD's is about 2.70 GB so there is space enough left to put a full image on it in a update folder.

this is so complicated.. i tried to mount the image using Alcohol 120%.. but I don't know how.. and then I put in the original Sims 2 Disk 1, it says.."Please remove any virtual disk"... damn !!! Guess I will just have to wait for the 100% working crack for the U.S CD version.

for conversion you need the 4 CD international version.
For the fixed exe to work you need to copy the .TMP files from the mini image to your copy DVD. To play the game you still need the copy DVD in your drive

you are doing something wrong, it works!

Ewoud, are you sure the TMP files are all that's needed. If I remember correctly the mini-image is an alcohol 120% image and the reason it's not bin/cue is because bin/cue doesn't know how to add copy protections, alcohol on the other hand does support this. So I would open the mdf file, and add all the files in the DVD folder to it, it might work.

I just overwrote the two TMP files from the mini-image of the link I wrote. Copied them from the image to the my sims2 folder, by mounting that image into Daemon Tools. The DVD needs to be in your drive to play. To play with your copy the only thing you need is that 'Money' fixed exe and to copy those TMP files to your sims2 DVD folder before burn. If its not working you are either overseeing something, or downloading the wrong image or crack, or have the wrong sims2 cd version. I used the international 4 cd version 1.0

I have done the same as you mentioned and it will only play if I mount the image, otherwise it asks for the dvd. So what to do?
