I'm back!
I was away for some days, because of i bought a new PC.
My new machine is: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Gigabyte K8NS Ultra-939 (Mainboard) 2x 512 MB (DualChannel) NEC 3500 (DL DVD-Burner) NVIDIA GeForce 6800 LE Now i have a problem playing games (NFSU2 don't start / HL2 is crashing when i click to fire). I think it's the latest NVIDIA driver. Where can i get the "one before the latest" driver? What is the version number of this driver? |
Now i have tried the following drivers:
nVidia Forceware 66.93 (latest official driver) nVidia Forceware 66.81 nVidia Forceware 67.02 (beta) Half-Life 2 still crashes when i hit the mouse-button to fire (Screen freezes and i get the normal Windows Mouse). Now i have start the steam validation of the HL2 files. Steam is still working. I hope HL2 will work after that... |
U using the same hard drive or was it a clean install? if u using the old one, did u uninstall the old graphs cards graphic b4 building the harddrive into the new machine (even if it was an nvidia card)?
|
No, i was having only a Notebook with ATi Mobility Radeon 9600.
Now i have sell my Notebook and bought the new PC (see above) I was having an external HD drive, but the system (WinXP Pro + SP2) was installed on the internal HD. And also now on the new PC, i have a HD with the system and a second hd (the former external) with my games. Steam & HL2 (Steam-Version) is installed on System-HD. |
The latest official driver, gave me nothing problems too (66.93). I also had issues with the last official driver (61.77). Im back using the 61.76 drivers (about 5 months old), and am happy to say everything is cool again :)
Theres a driver archive on the Nvidia site. Open your eyes man!!!!! :p |
damn you got lots of money man :D

(...and it runs FAST with the new graphic card :cool: ) |
Do you have any Stuttering or hiccups problems in games with your current setup? that gigabyte mobo + A64 3500 was my first choice but after reading many forums, I saw most of people somehow have problem with GeForce 6800 series and nForce3 based mobos and some of them have to disable fastwrite in bios to make it smooth and stable.
what brand of ram did you get for your setup ? |
I don't have any problems in the game. It runs fast, stable and smooth.
I don't know what brand of RAM i bought, but it is a "special" DualChannel Pack with two "one on the other co-ordinated" 512 MB modules. (I also updated the mainboard bios from F1 to F4 !!!) |
Great! it's nice to see that finally someone has zero problem with his A64 based system (no Stuttering, no blue screen, no random crashes,.....), enjoy your new gaming setup man! ;)
BTW if you have CPU-Z, run it and go to SPD tab, you'll see the manufacturer of your ram there. |
So, now i was using this CPU-Z tool.
The manufacturer is CORSAIR !!! |
@GLH
Well I must say I am jealous. :p And ooh yeh Corsair is excellent Ram. ;) |
@Grumpy:
If you want to know it: 3DMark05: 2.425 / AquaMark3: 43.946 Before using Rivatuner 3DMark05: 2.613 (+188) / AquaMark3: 45.296 (+1350) After using Rivatuner to enable two VertexUnits that was disabled. There are also two PixelUnits that are disabled, but when i enable them i get some graphic errors. By the way... IT'S FAST ENOUGH !!! |
