puzzled to what mod is in machine.
I just got hold of a (Pal SCPH 30004) machine that is modded. However, i'm not sure what chip is inside, as i have not opened it cos it would void the warranty on the chip cos it has one of those tamper proof stickers underneath. The guy i got from said it has a messiah 2 installed, yet i dont think is has.
PS1 original/backups and movies boot if you have the ps2 in standby, then hold the reset till the blue eject appears, and quickly tap the reset button again, yet certain games are not optimized i.e. us/ntsc Tekken 3 has double borders and runs in 50Hz. If it was a M2 chip, i'm sure this title would run full screen 60Hz mode. Ps2 - Cd/dvd original/backups require a single tap of the reset button. Any thoughts to what mod this is? cheers!! |
Nope. Those are the boot procedures for a Messiah 2. Maybe you have a clone...

I had a old v4 pal machine with a messiah 1 chip installed previously, which booted all us/jap ps1 titles flawlessly, full screen 60hz. If it was a clone version of the M2, would it not have this function?. I remember the old NEO4 mods didn't have this function, as every import title (ps1) was not optimised to run the proper way it was intended to so.

Well from what I understand, most PAL TV sets will still understand an NTSC signal, so dont think it was the chip that was correcting this with your M1.
The screen position thing for PSX games I'm also not sure about with a PAL TV set as I'm obviously in the US with all NTSC equipment. Lufc will have to get this one if he cares. |
okay, thx for your input anyway. :)

Yeah, PAL TVs seem to work great with NTSC Signals (although you may need to do a bit of SCART switching to see which input supports the NTSC signal). ;)

most pal TV's have support for ntsc built in (i.e they will play either or!) but this doesn't mean all do. Depends on how old yr tv is. Some older tv's give sum strange effects! Also as u can't open up yr ps2 u cant tell whether the screen fix link is fitted (as mentioned earlier). Sounds like it ain't. Also lead are you using to play yr games..........RF Lead, Composite scart lead or component (RGB) scart lead? All these make a difference. Also if u using a RGB scart lead into scart socket 2 of yr TV the chances are that it is working in composite mode as usually on TV's only scart 1 supports RGB input.
Hope this helps :D Best bet....Forget the guarentee and fit or get fitted a matrix infinity.....THE ULTIMATE CHIP!!!!!! :p |
