Doom 3 Installation problems

Im having a difficult time trying to install Doom 3 which has never happened before. When you put in the first disc it takes longer than usually to install but it goes through. while the bar fills it will still say "C:\Program Files\Doom 3\
base\pak002.pk4" then after a while an error message will say "Error 1305. Error reading from file D:\setup\Data\base\pak002.pk4. Verify that the file exists and that you can acess it. Retry or Cancel" I checked the disc in my computer and saw it in base in the setup folder. Tonight has been the very first that this has happen. What can I do to make sure I ca get a proper intallation?

You can try to copy this file manually to your HD, just to see if your CD is damaged.
If it's damaged you need to contact the publisher of the game and ask for a replacement.

so what do i do if it is not damaged? I dont think it is because there is little or no scrathes on the disc and I only had it for two months.

When you can copy manually the file to your harddisc, then the SETUP/INSTALL of the game should also can do that.
When you can't copy the file, the CD is damaged.

Perhaps your CD/DVD-Rom drive is damaged. Try your CDs at another PC!

but nothing is damaged though. The cds the hardware it all works.

Have you changed one of your CD/DVD drives recently?

HarlemNightz27 24-11-2004 09:05

It is a brand new computer. Just had it for two months

Grumpy 24-11-2004 09:07

Have you installed Doom3 into this computer before?

HarlemNightz27 24-11-2004 09:08

yep and it worked too.

Grumpy 24-11-2004 09:11

Try and copy the disc. Try it on a Rewritable disc if it copies then maybe the copy will work. The reason I say this is I have a modem install disc that wont read properly but when I did a copy of it the copy worked fine!
