Complete XBOX mod newbie.

Hi all, I have a couple of questions.

1) What systems does Microsoft have in effect regarding Xbox Live and modded boxes. I have a non-chip modded xbox and I dont know if I can play live or not.
2) What do you recommend as the best program for making backups for xbox games? Is there anything you have to do other than burn them?

non chip... hmm..
Can you explain a bit more on this please.

If the onboard bios has been changed you CAN NOT play on xbox live, but who cares? Play on xbconnect.com :)

Hope this helps.

Ok, I used a USB/Controller port splice to put a save game on the xbox.
Then I used MechAssault to load the save.
That loads up EvoX so that I could FTP stuff on, and add EvoX permanantly.
Now I can play backed up games but not load games on the HDD.
I can send you a tutorial if you want, but you need an origianl of MechAssault.

And whats xbconnect?

Quall999 16-11-2004 13:26

you mean that you did a softmod, in that your xbox boots to evox on startup, or do you have to load the mech save everytime you want to play?

As for xbl, well, there has been lots of talk and news about upgrading the xbox or whatnot. Mainly, a new live detection since the release of Halo 2.

I played my xbox online before the hdd upgrade, and after. I play h2 online all the time and have not been banned. The modchip is indeed off, but I am not sure about ms's new detection feature. It has been playing fine for days. Who knows, you will never be safe if you modded your box as long as the detection thingy is still in the air as to what MS actually checks for bannings.

Nah, I dont need to load the save, it boots straight to EVOX

AXmichigan 16-11-2004 15:23

XBConnect looks awesome, I'll have to try it.

And another question:

I have recently bought Chronicles of Rid**** and THUG 2, how do you suppose I go about backing them up?

unfortunatley axe tyler is rite.
i have started to burn more using iso's ( namley iso craxtion) to the data burn method.
the data burn method was the best for a long time but i have found more and more newer games such as halo 2 , starwars battlefront to name but a few tend to respond noticibley better if backed up using iso craxtion and alcohol 120%.

lachlan_cannard 18-11-2004 14:45

Hey, do you have to burn the ISO to a DVD-R? I tried counterstrike with a DVD+R and the Xbox couldnt read it.

And doesnt it annoy you when the DVD cover says 4.7 gig capacity, when in reality it only hold 4.53? Halo 2 is 4.6gig.

AXmichigan 18-11-2004 15:03

boooooooo iso
yay data
actually..
screw em both
i just put em on my hdd
thats owns em both
