Magic V question...if anyone can answer, please do.
I received Budokai 3 from a friend of mine, and it's PAL. He claims his DMS3 has Auto-Force NTSC. I've searched the net and saw nothing of that sort for the Magic V. Is there any way to boot the game into NTSC without ripping it and patching it? My bigrig is shot, so I don't have a DVD burner installed right now (using an old ass Dell.) Please help if you can. Thanks.

Make sure you read our rules.
http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?t=47732 Why didnt you just buy the ntsc version of the game? Tyler! |
TD - I totally agree with you. Just why didn't you buy the NTSC version of the game..
Also I thought the Magic V can play PAL games on NTSC and vice versa |
First, I'm sorry for not reading the rules, and promise not to break them. But, I didn't think I was breaking them with that question. I pretty much got my answer from scavenging the internet. I didn't buy it because it's not out yet. :-( As soon as it is, I plan on buying it. I just wanted to know if there was a bootable way to force NTSC. Thanks for telling me something I already knew though.

I think there is a way but its not necessarily modchip related. It was just a jump on the ps2 mainboard itself. Anyways, why not try ADR Patcher on a freshly made iso of the game? Check out our Ultimate Info Sticky there is good info in there about PAL 2 NTSC patching.

I saw that, but as I said, I don't have access to a DVD burner right now. If I did, I wouldn't have posted that message. But thank you for your help. If you do happen to remember or find a way to do it, please reply. I've searched all night and came up with nothing. Not a single reference to a bootable PAL to NTSC switch. I'm starting to think it doesn't exist, but if you know otherwise, please inform me. Thanks again.

Also like Renegade_Playa stated yes your Magic V will boot an imported game but if its not of the NTSC video standard it wond display correctly on your console. Sorry to tell you this but with out a DVD burner you are S.O.L. You will need to make on image of the game then patch the image with a PAL to NTSC patch then reburn it to a DVD-R, and cross your fingers and hope the patch works, 10% of the time they dont. And even then if it does work a lot of times PAL to NTSC patched games are displayed off center. This is why I and many others just suggest staying within your own video standard. Good luck! |
I found what I needed.
The Xploder does exactly what I needed to do. I guess my answer was finally solved by...me. I have another TV that doesn't make the lines bounce when I play PAL games, and now that's where I play Budokai 3. Thanks for your time, or waste of it.
