Halo 2
Here goes another Halo 2 thread I hear you say.....well i'l probably be saying different things than others. Got the game yesterday, finished it today. played online and think it's the biggest dissapointment my gaming "career" has ever seen
The levels are SO linear, very repetitive and online gaming although good, is nowhere near as much fun as co-op on Unreal 2004 and all other FPS's. To say i'm disappointed is an understatment :( |
o u suuuuck
denouncing halo WHO DO U THINK U ARE?! haha ehh it was no halo 1 but its still quite good |
It is good, there's no denying it! But it's such a disappointment
|
I agree with you Jay Halo 2 did NOT reinvent the wheel which is what MS was tooting its horn as. It just built on the solid foundation of the original halo, which was what I expected. It was a good play through but I wouldn't call it the end all say all of games. To be honest a game I found that had more originality than I thought was going to have was GTA San Andreas. They threw everything including the kitchen sink into that bad boy and I was surprisingly impressed with the amount of crap to do in it.
|
Same here, i'm back on GTA SA at the moment (also feel my money was better spent on that title as well!)
|
Man i am really disappointed with it also. I cant believe the crap ending it has, I can say this much, it took me longer to beat the original than it did this sequel.

Hi Warlock,
I agree with you, I remember when I picked up the xbox on release date, took me around a week to finish Halo 1, granted I didn't play it in one street but it was definatly longer than the 8 hours it took me finish the second. The ending is pretty naff, I agree on that. IMO the only game thats ever pulled off a to be continued properly was Shenmue and Shenmue 2, both of which are still my fav games of all time....pure genius :) |
About a month or two ago I saw a think tech tv did on halo2.. sort of a pre-making of type deal.. They talked to a few programmers.. the general consensus was that halo2 was just halo1 with a few more bells and whistles..
They never went out of their way to say gameplay had gotten better.. Just that things had gotten prettier basicallly.. I think all the hype came from MS and fans building it up. When you're around your buddies and in communities constantly hyping it up you come to expect the hype. Even after hearing Bungie talking straight about it in that little piece I was still hyped up by all the ads and junk on the net. |
This Quote is off the Special Edition DVD, and it was also the guy on the tech tv that I remembered.
A Bungie Game Design Lead named Jamie Griesemer, "In Halo 1 there was maybe 30 seconds of fun that happened over and over and over. If you can get 30 seconds of fun, you can pretty much stretch that out to be an entire game." Another Lead said, "..need to drive the players experience for 20 hours of gameplay.." |
Well maybe bungie didn't hype up the game but MS sure as hell did. They toted it as the greatest thing since the invention of the video game in all honesty and they should too. It was a garentteed blockbuster from start to finish but when all was said and done I think a lot of gamers walked away with a bad taste in their mouth. I just beat it about an hour and a half ago and I'm all for cliffhanger endings and sequels but there is a wrong way and right way to do things. An example of a right way to throw out a cliffhanger ending, look at The Empire Strikes Back. They left you drooling on the floor for the definite 3rd film you knew was coming and you walked out of the theatre or turned off the TV going "HOT DAMN THAT WAS GREAT!" After Halo 2 I was like "That's so BS!" NOt only that but at least Halo had some length to it.
