What programs do i need to get started on backing up my dvds? Can i make perfect backups if i put the backup on a dual-layer?

The programs Anydvd (which takes off the decryption of the movie) and CloneDVD2 from Elby which will allow you to take out any annoying previews that you dont want and reauthor and burn your dvd to either single layer or dual layered discs.

Do some searching and read up on how to do this on this forum.

Both AnyDvD and CloneDVD have gone through several version changes over recent year(s).

Any suggestions as to which version of each is best to use....????

Yep, like Biggie says. They are always updating and the newer versions in most cases have fixes for minor bugs of older versions.
